Introduction
Born in 1971, I grew up having a couple small fish tanks in my parents' house. That was my first exposure to the hobby of keeping aquarium fish. As I matured, I always dreamed of having some larger tanks of my own to work with. My interest peaked while attending college. A couple excellent local fish stores were located near campus. That is where I was first introduced to the cichlids from Lake Tanganyika.
Several years later, I was blessed with meeting and later marrying my beautiful wife. Together we are fortunate to have two wonderful children. I discovered a local aquarium club and visited a member's fish room. My wife was with me while going through his room. I can only imagine how she wished she could take the words back after we left his room. She made the statement, "You could do that in our basement". Things have never been the same since!
I joined the Greater Cincinnati Aquarium Society in 2007. I try to be as active in our club as life permits. I strongly encourage everyone to look for and get involved with their own local clubs. I have made several good friends and have found several local breeders of high quality fish. Since I joined the club, I have gained invaluable experience in keeping and breeding numerous species of fish. I am also a member of the American Cichlid Association and the Ohio Cichlid Association. I visit several internet forums weekly and I'm currently a moderator on a couple different sites. You can always find me under the user name "Qaddiction".
While my focus is cichlids from Lake Tanganyika, a look through my fish room might discover other cichlids from all over the world and even a few livebearers and catfish. The aspect of the hobby that interests me the most is the spawning of fish. You can always find several different species of fry and juvenile fish growing out in my fish room.
